You’re bound to hear the siren song of the ‘instant traffic’ and other such nonsense that wastes your money on things you really don’t need. So let’s go over a few of them now:

Autosurf Programs – While they used to work
before, they don’t any more.

FFA/Link Farms – Great for spam, bad for sales… skip em’

Guaranteed 1st Page search engine placement – Almost always a scam… not possible to guarantee.

Directory Submission – Another waste… will only get your site banned
(There are some good directories but only do this when you've
covered the rest of your advertising bases and know how to
select the worthwhile locations).

Fancy new logos – Nope…unless you’re Coke or Pepsi, skip it.

Business cards – Not needed. Invest the $65 in Google instead.

Custom pens, paper, envelopes, etc …same as business cards, skip it.
What works? It's always the same old fundamental
techniques that work over and over again. Stick to the basic
"blocking and tackling" and you'll succeed.
And for God's sake ... start tracking today. If
you're not using a tracking tool then you're throwing 50% or more of
your money away.
